Allotment Handbooks

Gordon Road have produced a members' handbook for their site, and are very happy for other sites to download and adapt it to to thier own sites. It's available in both final printed pdf form (2mb), and as a Word document using the page order as supplied to the printer (6mb). Some notes on the production of the booklet are also available.

Allotments Regeneration Initiative - ARI aims to get more people, individuals and community groups growing on allotments. Each region has a mentor to give support at a local level. They also have a number of useful fact sheets giving advise on subjects ranging from fundraising to health and safety, as well as a Good Sites Guide.

Scrap metal. If scrap metal builds up on your site and you don’t have any way to get rid of it, apart from a skip, then you may want to contact Rob Newman who will collect scrap metal from your site. Just separate the metal from other waste. You can call him on 07851 063756

Mulch. A firm of landscape contractors has partly composted wood chip available to allotment societies in their area. They generally deliver in loads of 16 cubic metres, and if you are not too far away from them, both mulch and delivery are free. PLEASE CHECK WITH YOUR COMMITTEE BEFORE ARRANGING ANY DELIVERIES TO THE SITE. Allotment holders are also welcome to go and collect – by appointment only.
