Site & Plot Competitions – 2017

The internal judging took place on Saturday 8 July, with 20 sites and 16 plots entering the competition.  The scores were moderated during the following week and the external judging of the first three sites and plots took place on Saturday 15 July.

It was very encouraging to have so many entries this year and with 10 judges we were able to cover the judging in one day. Grateful thanks go to all the judges.  Thanks also go to all the societies and plotholders who put themselves forward this year and congratulations go the winners listed below.

The winners of the Large Site Competition were:

First                     Clifford Road

Second                 Lawrence Street

Third                    Gordon Road

The winners of the Small Site Competition were:

First                     Brent Way

Second                 Fursby Avenue

Third                    Nethercourt Avenue

The winners of the Plot Competition were:

First                     Silas Kendall, Golders Green

Second                 Abdullah Rustame, Vale Farm Western

Third                    Alison Law and Judith Davidson, Childs Way

The standard was high this year and marking was really close.  The judges have taken time to consider some changes to the schedule for next year and it is hoped that more societies will make entries and encourage their plotholders to put themselves forward to have their plots judged.

As has already been reported on the website, the Ted Green Memorial Cup has been won by Whetstone Stray allotments and this trophy, along with all the other trophy prizes will be presented to the winners at the presentation evening to be held at Rathbone Allotments on Monday 16 October.  Further details will be sent out nearer the time.
