Site and Plot Competitions 2019

The Plot and Site Competition Rules and Schedule, entry forms and judging sheets for guidance, together with an application for the Ted Green Award have been circulated to all societies.

You may download copies of the documents by clicking on the links below

We had a record number of entries last year, but we’d very much like to see even more this year, so to encourage more societies to enter the site competition we’ve changed the groups of sites from three to four – small, medium, large and very large. The sites and groups to which they belong are listed in the rules and schedule document.

Your society may not wish to enter the site competition, but you may have plot holders who would like to take part who may not have done so in the past, so we’d like to nudge you into circulating the competition details to your members.

A team of judges is standing by and we’ve set aside two weekends for the judging.  So, Saturday 13 July (and Sunday 14 July if needed) is the first round of judging.  The final judging will be undertaken by an independent judge supported by the lead judges from each team, and will take place on Saturday 20 July (and Sunday 21 July if needed).

Last year 20 societies took part – it would be wonderful to have some more entries – have a look at the site groups and consider having a go this year.

Please use the front sheet of the Schedule as a poster for your noticeboards and please do let your members know about the competition.   There are monetary prizes and trophies presented at an awards event later in the year.

The Ted Green memorial award is for an outstanding community initiative by an allotment society during the previous twelve months. Has your society or a group of your members done something that you consider has benefited your society and/or the wider community? If so then tell us about it by completing the entry form and returning it 28 June.  Federation judges will contact you to arrange a visit to your project and ask you about it. If possible, please provide photographs.

All the information you need is in the documentation, but please get in touch by email to barnetallotmentfederation@gmail.com if you have any queries.

We very much look forward to receiving your entry forms – the closing date is Friday 28 June 2019.
